FAQ
Questions from accounting firms.
Answers about Canadian data, AI, white label, compilation engagements and the client portal.
Where is our client data stored?
In Canada. All client data, documents and backups are stored on Canadian infrastructure, and every AI model runs on Canadian servers. Client information in the platform is not processed outside the country.
Does Sorobas send client files to ChatGPT or other outside AI?
No. Sorobas uses open-source models that we host ourselves on Canadian servers, on a private network with no internet access. Client files are never sent to an outside AI provider.
Who is Sorobas built for?
Small and mid-size accounting firms across Canada, outside Quebec. It covers the work those firms deliver: bookkeeping, GST/HST and PST returns, compilation engagements, and T1, T2, T3 and T5013 files.
Can we put our firm's brand on the client portal?
Yes. With white label, the client portal, app and notification emails carry your firm's name, logo and colours, and Sorobas stays in the background. Ask about it when you request a demo and we'll include it in your firm's quote.
Does Sorobas handle CSRS 4200 compilation engagements?
Yes. Each compilation file has planning and completion checklists, engagement and representation letters, linked working papers and a CSRS 4200 index that must be complete before the partner signs off.
How do clients use the portal?
Clients open the portal in any web browser, or install it on their phone like an app without going through an app store. They upload documents, answer plain-English questions, sign and pay in one place.
